It is always a very moving and emotional ceremony. This year was without a doubt the biggest crowd ever. Everyone whether survivor, fellow officer, family member or visitor acted as if it was one huge family gathering to remember a lost loved one. The quote this year that has and will stick with me is the one that Mrs. Thacker from C.O.P.S. recited " When the wind blows, roots grow deep." There was a slight breeze through the entire ceremony that just helped wrap that phrase around you and hug you as if the fallen officers where standing there beside you comforting and supporting you. With this memorial every year those that have fallen will never be forgotten. I am so very grateful that the Memorial exsist as a tribute to those that have given their lives to protect me (us). As a cops wife I pray everyday that my police officer continues to stay safe as I do for every police officer out there. If you havent had to opportunity to come to Washington DC and visit or experience the candle light vigil, please try to do so. It is something you will remember and hold dear to you forever.tinanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4230862508468034856.post-77534031626226336622009-05-14T12:09:00.000-04:002009-05-14T12:09:00.000-04:00Was not able to watch but my brother (2008 survivo...Was not able to watch but my brother (2008 survivor, Deputy Sarah Jones EOW 10-19-08), dad, brother-in-law (police officer also) and his father where there and said it was very moving. We feel honored that they remember our fallen heroes in such a moving way.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4230862508468034856.post-83122110657450706212009-05-14T00:58:00.000-04:002009-05-14T00:58:00.000-04:00i watched until i had to put the kids in bed.
